Our club is one of four regions covered by the New Zealand Sheepbreeders Association, covering the northern half of the South Island from Cook Strait in the north to the Waitaki river in the south.
Working to improve sheep breeds, maintain their purity, collect pedigree information, and encourage the use of performance records.
There are a number of rare livestock breeds currently found in New Zealand. These range from breeds for which numbers are so small that their survival is endangered, to minority breeds which need to be kept under surveillance.
